The propaganda piece shown above was made during the research done on the regions most affected by the issue of food availability. These regions were Africa and Southeast Asia, with many of the countries in Africa experiencing severe issues in terms of food availability. For example, Chad (a country in northern Africa) ranked 111th out of 113 countries according to the Food Security Index. As you can see above, there are numerous facts on Africa's food crisis. The one that shocked me the most was the one stating that people in Rwanda spend three-quarters of their income on food. Here in the United States, Americans spend only 6.7% of their income on food. These shocking statistics spurred me to make them more known in the form of a propaganda piece. The piece above is an example of the "transfer" type of propaganda. The transfer type of propaganda consists of transferring the feelings omitted from the piece to the viewer. I made an attempt to relate the problems going on in Africa with the generally easier life of Americans (in terms of food availability). The fact that 233 million people go hungry every year, was also an attempt at making the viewer want to help in some way. The African children reaching out for the American flag was also an aim at generating sympathy for the viewer. Due to this transfer of sympathy and a feeling of "wanting to help", this allows for the propaganda piece above to be an example of transfer propaganda.
